Cat Bilski

A Bay Area local and self-proclaimed radical feminist, Cat Bilski is earning a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. As a first generation American citizen in her family, she is bilingual and fluent in Polish. Specifically, her focus lies in visual anthropology, incorporating studies in photography, film, and artistic political activism. Her first film, Performance in Passing is a survey documentary on artistic performance and the use of public space in and around BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) stations. Before she started her education at University of California, Cat served as editor-in-chief for her high school newspaper throughout the four years. Minoring in creative writing, she also occasionally self-publishes fictional zines (independent magazines) and hands them out for free to fellow writers at local poetry slams and readings. As a Buddhist, she is passionate about the practice of eastern philosophy and religion. Currently, she is working on a film dealing with the complications of keeping prostitution illegal in San Francisco, conducting research in strip clubs and massage parlors throughout the city.
